Snooze Gmail until the sender replies
TriageBox’s snooze menu includes Until sender replies: the thread leaves the queue until someone answers, or for 7 days at most. Gmail’s snooze is a clock (tonight / tomorrow / next week / pick a date) — it does not watch the thread. No AI key. No TriageBox mailbox server.
This is not Gmail’s time-only snooze, and it is not the Waiting tab (sent mail nobody answered), bulk unsubscribe, or deleting old emails.

Gmail already snoozes by time
Use Gmail if a clock is enough. Use TriageBox if the reply is the wake.
Gmail’s snooze is time-only: tonight, tomorrow, next week, or pick a date. The clock is the alarm; the thread is not watched. TriageBox adds a second job on the same snooze control: Until sender replies wakes when someone answers, with a seven-day backstop if nobody writes. Time presets stay on the menu. Review Google's sign-in and permission prompts before connecting.
Same mailbox, different job
Gmail time snooze vs TriageBox Until sender replies
Facts from Gmail’s published snooze and from the current extension documentation for TriageBox. No invented ratings.
| What you need | Gmail | TriageBox |
|---|---|---|
| Come back at a clock time | Tonight, tomorrow, next week, pick a date — clock only | Same idea: 1h, 3h, this evening, tomorrow, next week, custom time |
| Come back when they answer (not a clock) | Not offered — Gmail snooze never watches the thread | Until sender replies — wakes on any new message on the thread, 7-day backstop |
| A list of what you sent that got no reply | Nudges (heuristic) | That is Waiting for reply — a different tab, not this snooze option |
| Where it lives | Inside gmail.com and the apps | Snooze menu on the TriageBox card. Snoozed list shows when sender replies |
| On your phone | Gmail app | Desktop Chrome only |

How Until sender replies actually runs
- Install and connect Gmail. Desktop Chrome. No TriageBox account.
- Open Snooze on a real thread. Time presets are still there. Under them: Until sender replies — “wakes on answer · 7d max”.
- It leaves the queue. The card’s time slot reads when sender replies while it is snoozed. Any new message on that thread wakes it; otherwise the seven-day backstop does.
- Or pick a clock instead. This option does not replace time snooze. Use Waiting for reply when the job is a list of your unanswered sent mail.
The reply is the alarm
Not a date you guessed. Someone writing on the thread is what brings it back.
Seven-day backstop
If nobody answers, it still returns. It is not parked forever.
Not Waiting for reply
Waiting lists what you sent. This hides what you received until they write.
Time snooze stays
Tonight and tomorrow still exist on the same menu. This is one extra line.
Done with it until they answer
Hide the thread. Wake on the reply. Or in seven days.
Bulk unsubscribe & archive, scam checks. No AI key for Until sender replies.
Limits, stated
What this page does not claim
- It does not replace Gmail’s time snooze. Those presets are still on the menu.
- It does not wait forever. Seven days is the backstop if nobody answers.
- It does not only wake on the original From. Any new message on the thread wakes it.
- It does not list unanswered sent mail. That is Gmail waiting for reply.
- It does not nudge the other person or track opens.
- It does not unsubscribe or delete mail. Those are bulk unsubscribe and delete old emails.
- Reply checks need Chrome running. After Chrome or the computer returns, polling resumes; a closed browser cannot watch for replies. Gmail’s own time snooze also works on your phone.
- It does not send mail through a TriageBox server.
- It is not for anyone else’s mailbox.
Quick answers
Snooze until the sender replies
Can I snooze a Gmail email until the sender replies?
Gmail’s own snooze is a clock only — tonight, tomorrow, next week, or pick a date. It does not watch the thread. TriageBox is a Chrome extension with Until sender replies on the snooze menu: the thread leaves the queue until someone answers, or for 7 days at most. No AI key. This is not the Waiting tab, which lists sent mail nobody answered.
Who counts as a reply?
Any new message on that thread wakes it. The backstop is seven days if nobody writes. The snoozed list shows when sender replies on the card. The feature operates on Gmail threads.
Is this the same as waiting for reply?
No. Waiting for reply is a list of sent threads where you wrote last and nobody answered for 2+ days. Snooze until reply hides an inbound thread you are done with for now, and brings it back when someone answers. Use Gmail waiting for reply for the outbound list.
Does my mail go through a TriageBox server?
No. There is no TriageBox mailbox backend. The separate public support service counts anonymous likes; it receives no Gmail content. Processing runs in your browser; Gmail data is not sent to the publisher.
