Waiting for reply in Gmail — a list of sent mail nobody answered
TriageBox’s Waiting tab is the reviewable list Gmail Nudges never shows: sent threads from the last 14 days where the last word is yours and nobody has answered for 2+ days. Days waiting on the card. Write a threaded nudge from there. No API key for core Waiting list. AI optional (draft the nudge). No tracking pixel. No TriageBox mailbox server.
This is not Gmail Nudges (a heuristic bump of one thread), and it is not bulk unsubscribe, deleting old emails, or a phishing checker.

Gmail already nudges
Use Nudges if a bump in the inbox is enough. Use TriageBox if you want the list.
Gmail’s Nudges (Settings → General → Nudges → Suggest emails to follow up on) can float a sent message back to the top of the inbox after a few days, with a line like “Sent 3 days ago. Follow up?”. Gmail chooses which threads and when. There is no exact-count list of everything still outstanding. TriageBox Waiting is that list — same Sent folder, days waiting on each card, write the nudge yourself (nothing sends until you press send). Not open-tracking. Gmail-only, in your browser, after Google OAuth. Review Google's sign-in and permission prompts before connecting.

Gmail Nudges vs TriageBox Waiting
Facts from Gmail’s published Nudges setting and from the current extension documentation for TriageBox. No invented ratings.
| What you need | Gmail | TriageBox |
|---|---|---|
| A reminder that something you sent got no reply | Nudges: Gmail picks a thread and floats it. You do not choose which, or the delay. | Waiting tab: a list you open. Sorted by days waiting. Last message must be yours. |
| How far back it looks | Heuristic; typically a few days. No published window. | Last 14 days of in:sent -in:chats, up to 30 threads scanned. Unanswered for 2+ days. Cached 30 minutes. |
| Inbound mail you still owe a reply to | A separate Nudge: “Suggest emails to reply to” | Out of scope — Waiting is only sent mail where you wrote last |
| Write the follow-up | Open the thread in Gmail and compose | “Write a nudge” on the card is a threaded reply. Optional AI draft if you added a key. Nothing sends until you press send. |
| Open tracking / read receipts | None. Gmail does not pixel the recipient. | None. No pixel, no mailbox backend, no “they opened it” |
| On your phone | Gmail app (Nudges) | 0 / 10 — desktop Chrome only |
TriageBox is not affiliated with Google. Gmail, Google and Chrome are trademarks of Google LLC. Waiting is not a complete history of unanswered mail, not SaneBox, and not a follow-up sender. Counts and cards are what the last scan found in those 30 sent threads — not a mailbox-wide guarantee.

How the Waiting list actually runs
Add to Chrome installs this product, not the in-extension nightly log. These are the steps on a signed-in Gmail account you are authorised to use.
- Install and connect Gmail. Desktop Chrome or another Chromium browser. Google shows the account and permissions you are authorizing; verification warnings depend on the release and account. No TriageBox account.
- Open the Waiting tab. Unread · Read · Archived · Sent are always
visible; Waiting appears with the other extra tabs when it has content. The scan is
in:sent -in:chats newer_than:14d, capped at 30 threads. - Read who owes you. A thread stays only if the last message is one you sent (not a draft) and it has been unanswered for two days or more. The card shows days waiting. The “from” slot is who the last mail was To — the person who owes the reply.
- Nudge, or leave it. Write a threaded reply from the card, or open the thread in Gmail. Optional AI can draft the nudge if you added a Gemini, Grok or OpenRouter key. TriageBox does not send unless you do. A 30-minute cache avoids re-scanning on every open.
Days waiting, not a bump
Sorted oldest-unanswered first. A list you open on purpose, not a thread Gmail decided to float.
A nudge is a real reply
Threaded from the card. Optional AI draft on your key. Nothing leaves the mailbox until you press send.
No pixel
This is not Mailtrack. The test is “did they reply on the thread”, not “did they open it”.
Unsubscribe is a different page
Stopping lists is bulk unsubscribe Gmail. Age cleanup is delete old emails. This page does not move mail in bulk.
What you sent, still unanswered
Open the list. See the days. Write the nudge yourself.
Bulk unsubscribe & archive, scam checks. No API key. AI optional.
Limits, stated
What this page does not claim
- It does not list every unanswered email in the mailbox. Last 14 days, up to 30 sent threads, 2+ days with no reply, last message yours.
- It does not replace Gmail Nudges. Those already work, for free, with no extension.
- It does not show inbound mail you still owe a reply to. That is Gmail’s other Nudge, or your inbox.
- It does not send follow-ups, schedule them, or cancel them if someone replies later.
- It does not track opens. There is no pixel and no “they read it”.
- It does not unsubscribe senders. That is bulk unsubscribe Gmail.
- It does not delete old mail. That is delete old emails in Gmail.
- It does not check phishing. That is Gmail phishing checker.
- It does not run on your phone. Gmail’s own Nudges are what you have there.
- It does not send mail through a TriageBox server. Optional AI goes from your browser to the key you added.
- It is not for anyone else’s mailbox.
Quick answers
Gmail waiting for reply
How do I see emails waiting for a reply in Gmail?
Gmail’s Nudges (Settings → General → Nudges → Suggest emails to follow up on) can float a sent message back to the top of the inbox after a few days. Gmail decides which threads and when; there is no list of everything outstanding. TriageBox is a Chrome extension with a Waiting tab: it scans sent threads from the last 14 days (up to 30), keeps those where the last message is yours and nobody has answered for 2+ days, and sorts them by days waiting. You can write a threaded nudge from the card. This is not open-tracking and it does not send follow-ups for you.
Does TriageBox list every unanswered email?
No. The scan is in:sent, not chats, newer than 14 days, at most 30 threads. A thread only appears if the last message is one you sent (not a draft) and it has been unanswered for two days or more. Older loops, inbound mail you still owe a reply to, and anything beyond that 30-thread window are out of scope. Results are cached for 30 minutes.
Is this Gmail Nudges, bulk unsubscribe, or deleting old emails?
No. Nudges is Gmail’s own heuristic bump inside the inbox. Unsubscribe stops future mail from a sender. Deleting old emails clears mail already in the mailbox by age or category. Phishing checks read headers on the card you are looking at. Waiting is only sent threads that still owe you a reply. Different jobs, different pages. Use bulk unsubscribe Gmail, delete old emails in Gmail, or Gmail phishing checker for those.
Do I need an AI key to see waiting-for-reply threads?
No. The Waiting list, the days-waiting badge, and writing a threaded nudge from the card work after you connect Gmail, without an AI key. Optional AI (your Gemini, Grok or OpenRouter key) can draft the nudge in a chosen tone. Provider limits and optional AI charges apply. TriageBox never sends a follow-up unless you press send.
Does my mail go through a TriageBox server?
No. There is no TriageBox mailbox backend. The separate public support service counts anonymous likes; it receives no Gmail content. Processing runs in your browser; Gmail data is not sent to the publisher. Optional AI requests go from your browser to the provider whose key you added. There is no tracking pixel and no open receipt.
